A Renault Twingo Like No Other: Rauh Racing’s Bold Nürburgring 24h Mission

When you think about race cars, you probably picture a BMW, a Porsche, or even a Formula 1 car. But a Renault Twingo? Probably not. Well, that’s about to change!

Two brothers have set out on a mission to transform a Renault Twingo into a full-fledged race car and take on one of the toughest endurance races in the world – the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. This ambitious project, led by Rauh Racing, is not just about speed; it’s about passion, creativity, and the challenge of turning an everyday city car into a competitive racing machine.

How Did This Idea Come About?

The inspiration struck during a motorcycle tour through France. The Rauh Racing brothers noticed the abundance of Renault Twingos and began discussing over their intercom just how quirky and fun these little cars are.

“On a motorcycle, you have plenty of time to think. At some point, we started wondering – could a Twingo be turned into a race car?”

Later, they came across a 15 year old forum article of someone swapping a Clio engine into a Twingo in their driveway. That was the final push – the idea had to become reality!

When they announced the project via a social media ad, the reaction was overwhelming. The post sparked a debate about whether this was a genius idea or pure madness. Within just one to two weeks, they had already gained 500 newsletter sign-ups!

From City Car to Race Track – The Build

The Renault Twingo is known for being small, lightweight, and practical, but not exactly for its racing pedigree. However, the Rauh Racing team believes that with the right modifications, this little hatchback can become a serious contender on the track.

The Plan:

✅ Engine swap – upgrading to a more powerful Clio engine
✅ Enhanced suspension and brakes – improving handling for the track
✅ Safety upgrades – roll cage, racing seats, and fire suppression system
And so much more work – aerodynamics, weight, and countless hours in the garage

The Twingo will race in the SP3 class without a turbocharger. That makes it even more impressive, as it will rely purely on handling, aerodynamics, and driving skill.

The Ultimate Goal – The Nürburgring 24 Hours

For Rauh Racing, success isn’t just about building a fast Twingo. The real victory is seeing the car on the starting grid of the 2026 Nürburgring 24-hour race.

“The project is successful the moment the Twingo is lined up at the start of the Nürburgring 24H in 2026.”

The Nürburgring 24-hour race is unlike other endurance races like Le Mans or Spa because it allows amateur teams to enter—of course, with certain license and experience requirements.

“Nowhere else would it be possible to race a Twingo in a competition like this!”

Who Will Drive the Twingo?

As of now, the two Rauh Racing brothers will be behind the wheel. The rest of the driver lineup is still open, but they receive a lot of inquiries—including from female drivers, which they are especially excited about.

“We’d be absolutely thrilled if a female driver joins us for the 24-hour race!”

The Dream Team – If Money Was No Object

If budget wasn’t a limitation, the Rauh Racing brothers have a dream lineup in mind:

Misha Charoudin – Nürburgring expert and YouTuber
Sebastian Vettel – Four-time Formula 1 World Champion
Valentino Rossi – MotoGP legend and endurance racing driver
The Rauh Racing brothers – Of course, they wouldn’t miss out!

Now that would be an epic Twingo team!

Will the Twingo Become a Fan Favorite?

There’s a good chance! The Rauh Racing brothers are hoping their quirky little Twingo can challenge the reigning fan favorite – the Dacia Logan, which has been stealing hearts at the Nürburgring in recent years.

“We might just be on the right path to give the Dacia some competition!”

Follow the Journey!

This project is more than just a car build – it’s about proving that anything is possible with enough passion and determination. Stay tuned for more updates as the Rauh Racing Twingo gets closer to its ultimate challenge: surviving the Green Hell for 24 hours.

Will it make it? One thing is for sure – this will be a race to remember!
